☆ Skill Test

In Sri Lanka, the “Specified Skilled Worker (SSW)” or “SKILL test” is essential for those wishing to obtain a visa and work in Japan under the Specified Skilled Worker program. Here’s an overview of the SKILL test and its availability in Sri Lanka:

SKILL Test in Sri Lanka

Test Centers: The SKILL test for Japan’s Specified Skilled Worker visa is officially conducted in Sri Lanka. Test locations and dates can be confirmed through the official Japanese Embassy in Sri Lanka or the Specified Skilled Worker program’s official website.

Available Sectors: The SKILL test in Sri Lanka covers various sectors, such as:

  • Caregiving
  • Food and Beverage Manufacturing
  • Construction
  • Accommodation (Hospitality)
  • Manufacturing
  • And other sectors covered under the 14 fields of the Specified Skilled Worker program

Preparation and Training Centers: Sri Lanka offers several training centers and Japanese language schools designed to prepare candidates for the SKILL test. These centers offer sector-specific skills training, such as caregiving or food production, and provide Japanese language courses that are essential for passing the Japanese language proficiency exams required for the visa.

Test Structure: The SKILL test evaluates the specific skills needed for each industry through written exams and practical assessments. Since Japanese language proficiency is also a requirement for obtaining the Specified Skilled Worker visa, candidates usually take additional language exams like the JFT-Basic or the Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT).

Application Process: Candidates need to apply online for the SKILL test and pay any necessary fees. After passing the SKILL test, candidates can apply for a Specified Skilled Worker visa and work in Japan in the relevant sector.
